My 2014 in Books

Hello, faithful readers! My sincere apologies for the hiatus–2014 has come and gone, and it was a very busy and not entirely positive year, so I didn’t have a lot of time for blogging. I am hoping to turn many things around in 2015, so let’s get things off to a running start with the results of my 4th annual reading challenge!

Those of you who have been following my blog know that I have a tradition of setting a yearly reading goal for myself. I’m a graduate student, so I read a lot for my own research, but a few years ago I decided that I wanted to try to reclaim my love of reading by taking the time to read non-required selections. I’m happy to announce that I not only met my goal of 50 books in 2014–I surpassed it and read a grand total of 66!

Below is the complete list of my books for 2014, in the order read. In retrospect, it seems to have been a year of young adult books for me–I was sorely in need of something fun and quick to read in my down time. But I snuck in a few more “serious” reads as well.

If you’re a reader, follow me on Goodreads! I keep track of all my books there, and I usually write reviews of each book that I read. (It’s also a great and social resource for readers, in case you haven’t yet discovered it.) In case any of you are looking for some new books to read, the items in bold are recommended based on the accompanying rating out of five stars:
