May Grand Sumo Tournament, Tokyo

Yesterday, I attended the 7th day of the May 2012 Grand Sumo Tournament at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. It was my third time at sumo, and it just keeps getting more fun as I get to understand more about the sport and the competitors. There were some really exciting matches, including a surprising loss by Hakuho to Toyohibiki, after which all of the spectators threw their seat cushions in the air. This is actually one of my favorite sights—and it’s rare to see, since yokozuna don’t lose very often.

The May tournament runs until next Sunday, May 20th, so you still still time to get tickets!
